Making Democracy Work in an Age of Misinformation
About this event
Join us for an insightful presentation on Making Democracy Work in an Age of Misinformation. Dr. Ian Shapiro will highlight the spread of political lies, why people fall for misinformation, and how to defend democracy in this highly contested election year.
Ian Shapiro specializes in American political attitudes and behavior. His work focuses on susceptibility and belief in political misinformation, how racial attitudes shape these beliefs, and broader beliefs towards democracy.
After receiving his doctorate from CU Boulder, Dr. Shapiro completed a two year post-doctoral fellowship at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU. He is currently working on projects related to voter access in Texas and political deliberation, as well as co-authoring a book on how racial attitudes and political identities shaped perceived integrity of the 2020 Presidential election.
