Redistricting in Colorado
History
In 2018, the League of Women Voters of Boulder County members, along with League members across Colorado, successfully led the advocacy community in passing Amendments Y and Z, which established the Colorado Independent Congressional and Legislative Redistricting Commissions, which will draw Colorado's congressional and state legislative districts in 2021 following the 2020 census. These amendments effectively eliminate partisan gerrymandering in Colorado!
Current Status
For several months, the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission worked to take comments from community members on draft redistricting maps. LWVBC members and many others participated in shaping legislative districts and in so doing, helped ensure a fair and equitable democratic processes.
In fall of 2021, the final maps were filed with the Colorado Supreme Court. For more information on that process and the most current information,
