Initiative 195 to ask for graduated income tax

Published on 9/9/2026
From the Colorado Sun:

Colorado voters will be asked in November to amend the state constitution to impose a graduated income tax system that would generate billions of dollars in new state revenue each year.

The Colorado Secretary of State’s Office announced Tuesday that the supporters of Initiative 195 — a coalition of liberal political advocacy organizations — turned in enough signatures to get their measure on the November ballot.

Initiative 195 will ask voters to raise Colorado’s flat 4.4% income tax rate on income earned by people and corporations that exceeds $500,000 a year while keeping flat or cutting the income tax rate on earnings less than that.
