RCV on November Ballot

Campaign Kickoff - Free Ranked Choice Ice Cream!
Sunday, August 30th, 3-5PM
Roger's Grove Nature Area
On Tuesday night, our effort to bring ranked choice voting (RCV) to Longmont elections reached its most significant milestone yet:

WE ARE OFFICIALLY ON THE BALLOT THIS NOVEMBER!

City Council voted 6-1 to put RCV on the ballot for use beginning in 2029. They also voted to put a related proposal simplifying Longmont’s election cycles so that in one cycle, all three ward (district) councilmembers are elected, and in another, all three at-large councilmembers are elected. (Currently, a mix of both ward and at-large seats are elected in each cycle.)

As exciting as this is, today is when the real work begins. Our job is now to convince a majority of Longmont voters to vote YES on both of our proposals this November. We need all the help we can get to reach voters however we can—door-knocking, lit-dropping, community events, you name it.

To get things started, we will be having a Campaign Kickoff on Sunday, August 30, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Roger’s Grove Nature Area! Sweet Cow will be providing free ice cream for the event, and you get to use RCV to help us choose the flavors! Vote (link below) before Sunday, August 23 and then join us on August 30 for a delicious start to the campaign! You also can RSVP for the event on our website and add it to your calendar.

Lastly, RCV for Longmont is powered by grassroots contributions from supporters like you. We will need to raise a significant amount of money to be able to reach the number of Longmont voters we need to win. If you’re able, chipping in today in commemoration of our proposals officially being on the ballot would be immensely appreciated and allow us to start the campaign off strong.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you for your support. We simply would not be here without you. Please feel free to reach out if you have any comments or questions.

Onward to November!
