The Informed Citizens Book Club of the League of Women Voters of Larimer County is taking the month of July off – there will be no meeting at Old Town Book Store on July 11, 2018. Instead we are suggesting that the members of the League of Women Voters of Larimer County join in an


The book of choice is The Women’s Hour by Elaine Weiss. The Women’s Hour chronicles the vote in Congress when women won the right to vote, and essential to that vote was the work of suffragette, Carrie Chapman Catt, the founder of the League of Women Voters.

Elaine Weiss takes readers back to the nail-biting and drama-filled weeks leading-up to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The Week

The idea is that we will all buy the book, read it, and then when we gather with League friends over coffee, wine, a hike, a meal – we share our thoughts and reactions to the book and the history it chronicles. Many mini book discussions – it just takes two.

An invitation will be extended to other Colorado Leagues to join us. Imagine, leaguers around the state will be talking about Carrie Chapman Catt and the ratification of the 19th Amendment during the month of July.
