The Schools Team researches educational issues of interest to the League membership. This includes, but is not limited to, the Boulder Valley School District and the St. Vrain Valley School District, the two districts in Boulder County.
Like all LWV Issue Teams we welcome new members. If you would like to join us contact our team leader - firstname.lastname@example.org. You don't have to be an expert. You do not have to be a League member to attend one of our team meetings and learn more.
• We analyze the school districts' ballot proposals and publish a compilation of arguments for and against, to enable voters to decide—such as the SVVSD proposal on the November 2016 ballot, and the BVSD bond issue proposal in November 2014.
• We invite guest speakers. In September 2013, the superintendents of the two school districts spoke at our LWVBC fall "kick-off" meeting about statewide Amendment 66 (defeated in November election).
• We conduct studies. In 2013–2014 we studied school safety in light of several school shootings. We presented our findings to members and the public.
• We assist the Voter Services Team with candidate forums before school board elections.
